8. Sample Essay (Complex Structure)

Some people prefer to be a leader of the group while other people prefer to be a member, which would you prefer and why?

Groups, in general, can be defined (elucidated) as the collection (accretion) of people who work for their respective tasks. Man. being a social animal, lives (dwells) in various (assorted) groups like family, locality, community, state religion or country, etc. Almost all of these groups have one or a few leaders who are followed by other members of the group. Though, both leaders & members, working together, ensure the success of the group. but I, in my turn, would prefer to be a leader.

First of all, it can be observed from history that leaders always get fame & respect (reverence) from others. It is also seen that whenever a group gets success (winner), all credit is given to the leader. To cite an example, after all, collective efforts of the Indian freedom movement the freedom was rightly credited to Mahatma Gandhi who, as a leader, ignited the light of independence in Indians. Thus, it can be said that a leader's role always remains crucial for the success of a group, which sets (solidifies) my choice to be a leader.

Individuals can also develop (accrue) many unique traits such as optimism, teamwork & decision-making skills, by playing the role of a leader. A suitable example of this fact is Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who was given the responsibility of ODI captain first. later. with the help of his developed traits, he proved himself to be a great leader in all three formats of the game. So, it can be said that a leader gets better opportunities to sharpen his competence. I, as a leader in the future, may get such opportunities to develop my personality.

Next to that bein a leader of a group we can develop our contacts which can help us throughout our life; hence as a leader, we can make our network strong.

On the other hand, being a member also offers its own benefits. Member of a group is not burdened by any direct responsibility. They, in case of any failure, have a leader to bear the responsibility. Members, unlike their leader, always have the luxury of breaks & holidays. Members after a failure often have opportunities to compensate for the failure but leaders in such cases are often dealt with severe criticism. So, a leader, unlike a member, maybe at the receiving end of the criticism, yet the benefits mentioned in the above paragraphs make the position of leader quite lucrative. Thus, leadership remains my ultimate choice.

To pen down, would say that, being a leader, always offers such a respectful & pleasing lifestyle which is aspired by many. So. I, in my turn, would stick with my choice, and would always try to be a competent leader.
